Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies at New Jersey City University addresses the need in our pluralistic society to broaden one's knowledge about Latin America, the Caribbean, and North Americans of Latin American and Caribbean ancestry. The program focuses on the complex geopolitical, economic, social, and environmental realities of the developing countries and territories to the south of the United States, with specific emphasis on the Caribbean region. The Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies Program also addresses the phenomenon of widespread migration of Latin American and Caribbean peoples to the United States and examines:
Students with majors in most academic disciplines will be able to strengthen their area of study by minoring in Latin American, Caribbean, and Latino Studies. Students interested in pursuing the minor, or in learning more about our courses, should make an appointment to speak to program coordinator.
The minor focuses on the complex geopolitical, economic, socio-cultural, and environmental realities of the developing countries and territories to the south of the United States and the Caribbean region. The program is organized to offer courses in multiple disciplines (anthropology, geography, history, economics, gender and women studies, literature, modern languages, political sciences, to mentions some) aimed to broaden your knowledge of Latin American and the Caribbean regions and comprehend their global impact.

Every Spring term the LATI program awards one scholarship to outstanding continuing students currently minoring in Latin American, Caribbean and Latino Studies. The award includes US $200.00 aimed to help students purchasing course materials. Check the NJCU LATI webpage for the deadline.
