These advisors play a crucial role in facilitating course registration, crafting degree maps, and tracking progress from semester to semester. Each student is assigned an advisor based on their last name and enrolled academic program, ensuring personalized and effective ÃÛÌÒtv tailored to their unique needs.
The UAC Mission
The University Advisement Center at New Jersey City University strives to improve undergraduate students' academic experience and success. The academic advisors at UAC are committed to assisting students in achieving their full potential by providing awareness of resources and ÃÛÌÒtving academic success. The advisors at UAC aim to inspire, educate, and foster growth through advisement, workshops, and engagement opportunities, delivering guidance and knowledge to help students become successful graduates and professionals who can contribute positively to the community.
Vivianne Jiminez, Director

Vivianne Jimenez brings 20 years of higher education experience to her role as Director of the University Advisement Center (UAC). She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Graphic and Multimedia Design from Bloomfield College and a Master of Science in Educational Technology from Full Sail University, firmly believing in education's transformative power.
Before joining the UAC, Ms. Jimenez was the Dean of Students at Branford Hall Career Institute and Chair of the Design and Animation program at the Chub Institute for twelve years. Passionate about student success, she aims to be the ÃÛÌÒtvive leader she wished for during her undergraduate years.
Why Would I Talk to an Academic Advisor?
Walk-in Advisement:
Walk-in hours are available for quick advising sessions and are intended for brief guidance on matters such as:
- Referrals to resources and offices for further assistance and exploration
- Concerns regarding academic policies and procedures
- General Education class add/drop
- Discussing a pass/fail option
- Discussing class withdrawals
- Change part time/full time status
- Declaring a major/minor
Advisement Appointments:
- Ask for advice on course registration and academic planning
- To solve complex registration issues
- Discuss degree requirements, including NJCU Core, Majors, and Minors
- Clarification on baccalaureate and general education requirements
- Change in major/minor
- Major exploration
- Plan a reasonable and timely graduation
- Post-grad planning
