JERSEY CITY, N.J. | New Jersey City University has announced that 1,265 undergraduate students have earned distinction for their academic success by being named to the Fall 2025 semester Dean’s List. Among the honorees, 301 students achieved a perfect 4.00 grade point average (GPA) during the term. | See past Dean's List recipients

For students to be eligible for Dean’s List accolades, they must earn a semester GPA average of 3.50 or better while enrolled in 12 or more countable credits. Part-time students who have excelled in a minimum of 6 to 11.5 credits for two consecutive semesters are also eligible. The full qualifications are .

Fall Dean’s List recipients by class include 438 freshmen, 371 sophomores, 210 juniors and 246 seniors.

The fall term saw an increase of 14.96 percent for freshmen and 10.75 percent for sophomores earning Dean’s List distinction compared to the Spring 2025 semester.

Additionally, the number of freshmen on the Dean’s List continued to rise dramatically, from 232 in Spring 2024 and 381 in Spring 2025 to 438 this term— a 88.79 percent increase, demonstrating returns from NJCU’s Student Persistence efforts launched in 2024. Impressively, 65 student-athletes from the NJCU athletic department earned Dean's List recognition for the fall term.

“The Dean’s List represents more than high grades; it reflects determination, resilience, and a deep commitment to learning,” said Dr. Pia Stevens Haynes, Ed.D., Acting VP of Student Development and Community Engagement and Dean of Students. “Today, we celebrate the effort behind the achievement and the promise it represents for your future.”

Students who conclude their undergraduate studies with a 3.65 GPA or better will graduate with honors and be recognized at Commencement as cum laude, magna cum laude or summa cum laude, if their GPA equates to the following:

• 3.65-3.79 cum laude
• 3.80-3.89 magna cum laude
• 3.90-4.00 summa cum laude
