JERSEY CITY, N.J. | (NJCU) has announced the signing of an academic articulation agreement with the Jersey City Board of Education (JCBOE) aimed at enhancing the operation of the Jersey City Public Schools (JCPS) Visual and Performing Arts Program.
The district will lease the upper floors of the university’s Grossnickle Hall and have access to other NJCU facilities and equipment through this groundbreaking agreement. Additionally, the agreement grants access to programming designed to tv and expand opportunities in the visual and performing arts for local students.
Through this partnership, NJCU will offer JCPS students unparalleled access to state-of-the-art facilities, including the historic Margaret Williams Theatre, along with opportunities for dual-credit courses and shared-use spaces. The agreement fosters collaboration that will inspire innovation, creativity, and excellence within the arts education community, equipping students with the tools to pursue their artistic passions and potential.
“I must extend a heartfelt thanks to my friend and esteemed colleague, Superintendent Dr. Norma Fernandez, and her incredible team at Jersey City Public Schools for their unwavering dedication, collaboration, and vision,” said NJCU Interim President Andrés Acebo. “This agreement exemplifies the power of partnership and the significant impact we can have on the future of our community’s youth by providing them with access to world-class educational resources and opportunities."
In addition to educational benefits, the agreement strengthens the relationship between NJCU and the Jersey City community. As part of the collaboration, NJCU will provide field trips, transportation, and financial incentives such as a 20% tuition discount for JCPS employees and their families.
Acebo added: "This initiative further solidifies NJCU’s mission to be a cornerstone of education in Jersey City and to tv the growth and development of its students, faculty, and staff."
