Ralph Steadman

Ralph Steadman

I didn’t know Ralph Steadman. I had seen some of his art, but now I know the name of the guy who drew them. I guess my style has been influenced by some of the same things that influenced his or something.

MUJI Award

MUJI Award

Muji is launching an international design competition. A project calling for entries from all over the world of designs that shake up and stir people. The results will be announced at the Milan Salone. Our first theme is “SUMI”, We’re asking you to focus your design, not on the major pieces that are central to a room, rather to observe the extremes of the space, the unexplored areas of consciousness. We invite anyone in the world to propose a new Muji product!

Smart Folders in Mac OS X

Smart Folders in Mac OS X

I am such a loser. It was only by accident that I discovered Smart Folders yesterday. It is a feature of the Finder in Mac OS X that is incredibly clever and useful. And I never even knew it existed…

Smart Folders contain documents grouped together based on search criteria that you define instead of their physical location. Computer file systems are rigid: a file can only be in one folder inside a hierarchy of other folders on your disk. Smart Folders fundamentally change the way you organize your stuff because now a file can literally be in two folders (or many) at once without duplicating or moving the underlying file.

Like Smart Playlists in iTunes, Smart Folders automatically update in real time when you add or remove documents from your Mac. They can contain documents from anywhere in your home directory and external drives, and creating one is as easy as saving a search in the Finder.

The keyboard shortcut for it is Cmd-Alt-N, or you can create them from a search in Spotlight too.

Steve Jobs is a genius with a vision.

Lost attention to detail

I am hooked on Lost just like almost everyone I know, and one of things about this show is that it is done with preciseness in mind. People who work for this show, do their job with accuracy and exactitude.

So why is it that whoever in charge of the subtitles (Korean translation) in last week’s episode can’t write in English??
