Honestly, was the Muji Competition 01 some sort of joke?? All of the products that were chosen have almost 0 functionality (especially the 'gold' winner) and all of them are not new ideas. The only winning product that was even remotely useful was the extension cord 'their destination my departure'. Also I would like to comment on the fact that only Japanese (and one participant from Taiwan) were selected as the winners in all categories. If Muji is only going to chose winners from it's own country why not make this competition a local thing instead of opening it up to the world forum? It's a little off putting to think that Muji believes that the only 'worthy' product designers come out of Japan. Maybe the terms 'innovation' and 'functionality' should be studied more closely by the judges next time.
