Where is "everywhere"?
And if I may ask, where do you live?

Free coffee is just politeness and company policies. That's all. They do the same in Canada for Starbucks for example. Last week, I tried to open an internet account with J-Com by phone, that was very complicated, it seems. I asked if they had an office where I could go and talk live with a person. I got a "yes". But the better is that they came to the train station to grab me to go to the office and then offered me coffee when filling the application forms.

I'd say getting the second glass for "free" has more to do with the fact that they either *believed* you or at least didn't see any reason to doubt you.

But the free coffee? Obvious signs of an inferiority complex.
